Communication

Honesty, clarity, and space to think out loud — communication is the thread that holds every other value together.

Over the years of building and leading distributed teams, I’ve learned to cherish a small set of values that consistently shape how we work and what we can achieve together.

We work better when we communicate better.

We want every member of the team to feel safe speaking freely — and at length. Clear thinking often requires space, and good ideas don’t always arrive fully formed. Communication isn’t just about status updates or polished conclusions; it’s about sharing context, uncertainty, and intent along the way.

We also recognize that life happens. If you’re sick, unavailable, or stretched thin, we ask that you communicate that early and openly. Silence creates confusion; clarity builds trust. The same is true when something is bothering you or preventing you from doing your best work — those conversations matter, and they’re always worth having.

Strong communication isn’t about over-sharing or constant chatter. It’s about honesty, respect, and making it easier for the team to support one another. When communication is healthy, problems surface sooner, decisions improve, and people feel seen.

Looking back, every value I’ve shared — delivery, reliability, visibility, teamwork, and growth — only works because communication holds them together.
